Yandex.Taxi suspends work in Romania over local legislation

MOSCOW, Oct 14 (PRIME) -- Russian online taxi hailing business Yandex.Taxi, which works abroad under brand Yango, has suspended operations in Romania due to the local regulations that prevents effective development of the company, the company said on Wednesday in a statement.

“Yandex.Taxi suspends work in Bucharest and Romania. Specific features of the local law on passenger carriage do not allow us to develop the service effectively, this is why we have decided to focus on other countries and business directions,” the company said.

Romanian users of the service still can order rides in the Yango application in the rest 16 countries of its operation.
